ZigBee is a wireless technology developed to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless home area networks for applications such as device monitoring and control.
ZigBee operates is based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2006 physical radio specification and operates in unlicensed bands including 2.4 GHz. The specification is a packet-based radio protocol designed to provide an easy-to-use wireless data solution for low-cost, battery-operated devices. The protocol allows these devices to communicate data in a variety of network topologies securely and reliably, even through the hostile RF environments that are common in commercial and industrial applications.
The ZigBee protocol has been created and ratified by member companies of the ZigBee Alliance, which consists of over 300 leading semiconductor manufacturers, technology firms, OEMs and service companies.
Testing ZigBee
Users of LitePoint IQview, IQflex, and IQ2010 can now test ZigBee 802.15.4 standard enabled devices with the LitePoint ZigBee Software Package. Production test programs for the manufacturing floor can now be developed that allow ZigBee products to be tested by one-box test instruments and saving substantial manufacturing costs.
LitePoint also offers complete applications SW packages (IQfact) for popular Zigbee chipsets including Ember, Radiopulse, and others. Please contact LitePoint sales for specific chipset support questions.
